To M. Chrispin, Superintendent
This note is to commend your therapy dog team, Deb Breidenbach and Rocky. On July 25, 2021, Tiffin City Schools lost their working school therapy dog, Kennedy, to complications from cancer surgery. This was a devastating blow for staff and students of TCS. On August 11, Deb and Rocky took time out of their summer fun to come and support the students of Tiffin City Schools and community for Kennedy's Celebration of Life. This selfless act speaks highly of Deb's dedication to the school therapy dog program and helping others.
There were eight dogs and handlers in attendance. I am deeply touched by their display of support. Everyone enjoyed the extra special love received from your school therapy dog team, Deb and Rocky. We all felt the emotional support given by the dogs.
You can be very proud of how they represented the school district! There were almost 100 people in attendance and over 1600 have viewed the recorded live stream. These dogs impact such a large number of people. I hope you realize the daily benefits your students are receiving by including a school therapy dog on your staff.
In case you were not aware, Deb is also participating in the ACT (Ability Center Toledo) Therapy Dogs in Schools project which will compile and disseminate promising practices about school-based therapy dog practices. The long-term goal of this project is to enhance the intellectual, social, and emotional development of school-based children and youth in the United States. you are fortunate to have Deb and Rocky on your staff!
Again, please accept my gratitude for Deb and Rocky's professional commitment to helping improve the lives of children and staff! Please share this letter with your Board of Education and Deb's principal.
